EASTER IN LEONIDIO
Undeniably in the sights of both visitors and local residents Leonidio is intertwined with unique customs that take place during the Easter period. During the procession of the Epitaph on Easter Friday evening candles are put in cupped oranges and placed all along the central streets thus creating a mystical atmosphere combining smells and images. On the evening of the Resurrection and on Easter Sunday, hundreds of colorful paper lanterns are released into the sky symbolizing the Resurrection of the soul and its purification of all evil
MONASTERIES
The Monastry of Elona is built on a steep slope of Mount Parnona, an impressive and imposing monument of the area . Throughout the year crowds of people from all over Greece arrive to visit the monastery because of its unique architecture.
MELITZAZZ
The first weekend of July an exclusive appointment is given for the Melijazz Festival in Leonidio.
